Tim Baker

Tim Baker has spent four decades at the intersection of business strategy and technology. His career began in earnest at the BOC Group, where he led worldwide business process re-engineering projects — a discipline he was practising before the term had been properly coined. That experience gave him something rare: a deep, practical understanding of how organisations actually work, as opposed to how they think they work.

From BOC, Tim moved to Jersey, where he served as Operations Director at Mourant du Feu & Jeune, one of the island's leading law firms. In 1995, he founded TCB Consulting Ltd, which he built over 30 years into a respected practice serving clients from Jersey's trust industry to FTSE top 30 companies. Along the way, he developed a specialism in the design and delivery of complex, bespoke software systems — and an increasingly clear view of where technology was heading.

That view crystallised in late 2025. The arrival of genuinely capable AI agents closed a gap that had frustrated Tim for decades: the gap between knowing exactly what a business needed to do differently, and having the means to do it at a cost that a growing SME could justify. The diagnosis had always been straightforward. The cure had always been expensive. AI changed that equation.

AlchemAI Consulting Ltd is the result. It brings together Tim's 25 years of business process re-engineering experience, his deep knowledge of how technology systems fail and succeed, and the transformative capability of modern AI — packaged as a fractional advisory service that gives fast-growing businesses the board-level technology leadership they need, without the overhead they cannot afford.

Tim holds an MSc in Information Technology, an IoD Diploma in Company Direction, and is a Member of the British Computer Society. He is based in the South West of England, having moved to the UK in 2011, and works with clients across the UK.
